Antigo consulado brasileiro.

Likes: The rooms were spacious, much larger than we expected. We paid for a Junior Suite with Square view, and the room was more like a 1 bedroom apartment without a kitchen/washing machine. Plenty of space for 2 people. The location was central to everything and the cleaning staff kept the hotel and rooms in immaculately clean condition. Dislikes: The amenities stated "soundproofing" when booking; however, this hotel is in a very loud location. There were wood shutters on the interior that helped muffle the sounds from the outside, but a lot of the noise came from within the hotel. It is an old Brazilian Consulate building retrofitted to be a hotel, you could hear people in the rooms next to you, above you (walking noises mostly) and below you. We also were a little bit confused by the Tribe Social Club operating parties/social events (i.e. open-mic night, salsa dancing) on the 1st floor below us, which meant that you heard music loudly many nights and staff cleaning up and dragging tables well into the early morning hours afterwards. We did not request our room to be moved, but this definitely interrupted a peaceful sleep. I believe it's a 3rd party company that operates in the hotel and I cannot verify that they are directly related to the hotel itself. The rooms are definitely not soundproofed. Breakfast staff were really nice but we were disappointed with the "Continental" Breakfast that we paid to be included in our rate. Reviews showed photos of a buffet style spread, which was not the case. Perhaps they do this during a peak season time (we visited in the spring). It was a very short menu with limited options, it was not buffet style. That being said, the food quality was good, but if you're staying more than 1 or 2 nights, we got a little bit bored of the options for breakfast. Other notes: The art in the hotel was a bit bizarre, I think hotel management could do a better job incorporating either local photos or some sort of photo theme between the relationship of Brazil & Portugal since it was a former consulate. The photos in the rooms didn't appear to be related to the area at all and more like stock photos hung up. Didn't really impact our stay, but thought it was a little bizarre. Overall it was a good stay! Cleaning, reception, and breakfast staff service were amazing. If I were to return, I'd request a higher floor, and would not include breakfast and just go to the local cafes in the area. Rooms: 3 Service: 5 Location: 5
